Co-founders Rob Vettorel and Jayson Hobbs have attended hundreds of events throughout their careers. Many hours were spent collecting business cards, staring at name badges and typing contact information into Outlook in a very inefficient attempt to network at these events. Sure some event organizers were kind enough to share “the list”, but it usually came after the event and at a significant cost. In 2014 Rob and Jayson set out to fix this problem.
After many hours, and late night jam sessions with their development team, they created the NetworkKing mobile app. Then the real fun began…They took their app to event organizers and attempted to convince them why it was wise to leverage mobile technology to alleviate the major roadblock to effective networking at their events. The Pittsburgh Social Exchange was the first guinea pig. Ethan Nicholas, the President of the PSE, had the foresight to see the benefits of the app. Ultimately this first event helped push the NetworkKing app to the next level. Next came the Washington Chamber of Commerce. Jeff Kotula, President, also saw immediately the value that he could bring his members. Through his events he worked with the NetworkKing team to fine tune the user experience. The final test was the Pittsburgh Technology Council. This wonderful organization is a catalyst for many Pittsburgh based firms looking to leverage technology to help their members grow their business. This experience helped NetworkKing grow to make privacy a top priority for the app and NetworkKing users.
On January 2nd, 2016 NetworkKing launched their new and improved app to the Pittsburgh market place and the response was amazing. Event organizers were impressed with the app’s ability to drive sponsorship engagement and the attendees loved the idea of being able to connect with other attendees directly through the app. NetworkKing addressed privacy concerns by allowing attendees to “opt in” to displaying any confidential information and they finally gave the event organizers the ability to have a real time report of who was attending the event.
The NetworkKing team is now on a mission to UPGRADE the 2 million events held every year across the US with their mobile technology. With their extremely aggressive pricing strategy, and their ever evolving development plan to add features that directly benefit event attendees, they are positioned to solve the inefficient process of event networking.
